Introduction: Running Games: Finished Games on GalaxyNG servers:
GalaxyNG (Galaxy Next Generation) is a free "play by e-mail" (PBeM) interstellar strategy wargame
for multiple players. The object of the game is to conquer the galaxy by colonizing
and developing uninhabited planets, research drive/weapons/shield/cargo technology,
building warships and attacking neighboring races. The players use a turn viewer to
display the map and create commands (orders). You send your commands (orders) to the
game engine, via an e-mail and the game engine sends you back the results (forecasts)
of your commands. You can submit several commands and the server will send you back the
"expected" results of your commands if the turn would happen to take place. If you are
not satisfied with your commands, you can re-submit your commands over and over again
util you're happy with them. Once the "turn" is taken (at midnight: 24.00 GMT -5 hours)
your commands will be executed at the same time that everyone else's commands are executed
and then you can start submitting commands for the next turn. Usually 2 or 3 turns a week
is common. Winners are listed in the
Hall of Fame.
Joining a new game:
To join a new game send an e-mail to: galaxyng@galaxyng.com with the subject line as
"Join GameName" (without the quotes). You will receive by e-mail the server’s response.
VERY IMPORTANT! --> After you receive the Turn 0 Report, you must send your
first set of orders prior to Turn 1 Processing date and time (at midnight: 24.00 GMT -5 hours), otherwise you will be
erased from the game starting with Turn 1.
To submit orders for the next turn:
Send an e-mail to: galaxyng@galaxyng.com with the subject line as
"orders" (without the quotes) and submit your orders for the game.
All orders should start with: "#GALAXY GameName NationName Password" and end with: "#END".
Please make sure that your e-mail client sends e-mail to the galaxy
engine in PLAIN TEXT only. If you send your orders to the server in
HTML, you may end up sending your passwords to other players and
causing all kinds of havoc. Instructions to turn off HTML in your
mail client are here.
To send anonymous in game e-mail:
Send an e-mail to: galaxyng@galaxyng.com with
the subject line as "relay Nation_N" (without the quotes and where
Nation_N = the name of the nation that you want to send a message
to) and the body of the message will be your message - the first
line of the message should be the same as your first line when
submitting orders (#GALAXY GameName NationName Password). Also, remember to chop
off any signatures that may be automaticially attached by your
e-mail program! You can use anonymous remailers or services like www.sneakemail.com to censor your
signature for you.
